Me & my mates used to go to the Kursaal and usually the same bands would play at the Roundhouse around same time and we'd schlepp along to see them again. Saw Budgie, SAHB, Thin Lizzy, Mott the Hoople, Uriah Heep, Stray, Wishbone Ash. There was a Southend band called Slowhand / Sorrel that we followed that were excellent. They had twin lead guitars like Wishbone Ash. Good times!

Closing? Blimey I never knew it was still open.
Saw Clapton there 1/8/1970.
Seriously what's it going to be - Flats, Ministry, Lidl?

Not really need in Dagenham at the moment.
A nice Nigerian wedding outlet would help though.

Hopefully it will become a venue the locals can use.
Like an African grocery.

My father in law used to run some events down there. He was gutted to hear it will now be closing.
For those that are interested.
Here is a link of him reminiscing.

Saw Wishbone Ash in a club down Barking Road 'Canning Town' end. Anybody remember the name of it?

Over a period of 3 or 4 years I was a regular visitor to The Village but don't think I ever went into the pub. It was easily the best bingo hall cum rock venue that I have ever been to.

pisses me off, how all our heritage, especially music venues, are shutting down. It all started with the 'California Ballrooms'.

Yea I know, I know. I had a quick look but obviously didn't take it in. What can I tell you? I've got a virus and don't feel well. Would have edited the post but forgot the password.
YOU compiled the list eh? Impressive. Must have been hard work. Did you get to many of them?

It kinda closed in 1975 really. Everyone who was anyone played there at some time including Eric Clapton, Led Zepp, King Crimson and T.Rex on several occasions. The full list is here but it's not complete as I definitely saw Cockney Rebel there too.
